Platform service fee
Occur charges 5% of each paid ticket's face value as a platform service fee. The fee is capped at ₦30,000 per ticket (so very high-priced tickets do not incur unbounded platform fees).
Free tickets incur no Occur service fee.
Who pays the fee?
When creating a paid tier, you choose one of two modes:
Pass on to attendee
The buyer pays ticket price plus the 5% service fee at checkout. You receive the full face value of the ticket.
Absorb fee
The buyer pays only the ticket price. The 5% service fee is deducted from your settlement — you receive face value minus the platform fee.

How payments work

Attendee checks out
Buyer selects a tier and pays via Paystack (card, bank transfer, or other methods Paystack supports).

Payment verified
Paystack confirms the transaction. Occur marks the order paid, issues tickets with QR codes, and sends a confirmation email.

Revenue split
Ticket face value routes to the creator's Paystack subaccount. Occur's 5% service fee routes to Occur's main Paystack account.

Creator settlement
Payouts to the creator's bank account follow Paystack's settlement schedule. View estimated earnings in your dashboard.
Paystack & other costs
- Paystack processing feesapply to card and payment-method transactions per Paystack's published rates. These are separate from Occur's 5% platform fee.
- Creators must complete Paystack subaccount setup(bank details) before publishing paid events. Payouts are sent to the verified account on Paystack's timeline.
- Refunds are processed through Paystack back to the original payment method when an event is cancelled or a refund is approved.
